We are committed to ensuring Trout Lake Care becomes a cornerstone of support and connection for seniors in our community.
Mission & Vision
Trout Lake Care, Inc. is a grassroots organization inspired by a neighbor’s vision to help seniors age with dignity while remaining part of our vibrant community. Founded in June 2016 by local resident Ray Theygesen, Trout Lake Care earned 501(c)(3) nonprofit status and launched programs like free monthly senior dinners, assistance with medical equipment, and small construction projects. These efforts were made possible through the support of community volunteers and partnerships with organizations such as the Area Agency on Aging and Disabilities.
After Ray’s passing and the challenges of the pandemic, Trout Lake Care became dormant. Now, with renewed energy and a clear vision for the future, we are excited to announce that we have reapplied for nonprofit status, which we anticipate receiving this fall. Looking ahead, we plan to honor Ray’s legacy by exploring the creation of an activity hub near town. This envisioned space would provide housing designed to complement Trout Lake’s architecture and foster intergenerational connections.
Plans and new initiatives
We are committed to rekindling the programs Ray initiated while expanding services to meet the evolving needs of our community. Some of our plans include:
A welcoming gathering space where seniors can enjoy social events, exercise classes, lectures, and more.
A community kitchen to support a “meals on wheels” program and offer transportation services to town.
Regular wellness checks conducted by a nurse.
Volunteer opportunities for Trout Lake School students to engage with and support seniors.
Sustainability and Financial Goals
To ensure Trout Lake Care remains sustainable for years to come, we will rely on dedicated volunteers while introducing a suggested donation model for those who can contribute. This will help offset operational costs. For initiatives requiring part-time staff, we are actively pursuing grants at the county, state, and federal levels. While our initial application for funding through the Area Agency on Aging and Disabilities was not selected, we’ve been encouraged to reapply.
With the support of our neighbors, we’re building on Ray’s vision to create a community where seniors feel valued, connected, and supported. Together, we can make this vision a reality.
