Medical Library
We are pleased to offer a library of essential medical equipment, ranging from walkers and wheelchairs and first aid kits to a high-end electric all terrain scooter, which are available for free or at a rental cost. This service is designed to support individuals in need of temporary assistance. If you require any medical items, please feel free to contact us for more information or to make arrangements.
Firewood
FREE…..If you find yourself in need of firewood due to being snowed in, facing financial hardship, or experiencing other challenging circumstances, we are here to help. Our goal is to ensure that everyone has access to the warmth and comfort they need during difficult times. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you require assistance, and we will do our best to provide support.
Walking & Connections
We are planning a walking and social group for seniors, utilizing the facilities at Jonah or the local school when available. Additionally, we are organizing social events and presentations on topics such as solar panels and advance directives. Please check our calendar for upcoming activities.
Service Referrals
We maintain a network of local volunteers with diverse skills dedicated to supporting our elders. Additionally, we collaborate with other groups and organizations to provide comprehensive services tailored to the needs of older adults.
We are partnering with both the Area Agency on Aging & amp; Disabilities of SW Washington (AAADSW) and Klickitat County Senior Services, (KCSS) who both offer programs to benefit residents 60+ and residents with disabilities. We can refer residents and provide information on their programs.
Future Possibilites
Looking ahead, we have several initiatives in mind, guided by community feedback. Our survey indicates strong support for a regular shuttle service into town to complement Mt. Adams Transportation through Klickitat County Senior Services, as well as daily availability of frozen meals prepared in a local kitchen and delivered to our most vulnerable residents. We are also forming a “Helper Team,” a group of volunteers dedicated to assisting with essential services.
Our ultimate goal is to establish a community center with limited housing for residents facing age-related challenges who lack family support and wish to stay engaged in community life. This center would feature a community kitchen, a lounge, and a multipurpose space, including an exhibition area honoring the early pioneers and the indigenous who settled this valley.
