Let’s Re-Imagine The Park!

In April of 1962, Margaret and Charles Coate donated 18.66 acres to the county to honor her parents, Philomina and Christian Guler, early pioneers of Trout Lake, to be used for park land to benefit the community. About a decade later, the county transformed the property into an overnight camping facility- and it’s use has been essentially unchanged since then. As we look to the future of our community, we have a golden opportunity to take a fresh look at this wonderful community asset and how it may serve the community and our elders into the 21st century.

Who we are

TLC is a grassroots organization of Trout Lake residents inspired by a neighbor’s vision to help seniors age with dignity while remaining part of our vibrant community. Founded in June 2016 by local resident Ray Thygesen, Trout Lake Care earned 501(c)(3) nonprofit status and launched programs like free monthly senior dinners, assistance with medical equipment, and small construction projects.

These efforts were made possible through the support of community volunteers and partnerships with organizations such as the Area Agency on Aging and to upholding and expanding this mission through various initiatives that provide essential services, foster community connection, and support overall well-being.

Looking ahead, we plan to honor Ray’s legacy by exploring the creation of an activity hub near town. This envisioned community center would provide limited housing designed to complement Trout Lake’s architecture and foster intergenerational connections.

Explore what we offer

The results of our community survey conducted in July & August have helped us identify goals that the citizens of Trout Lake wish to achieve. Here are some initiatives we’ve begun and others we’re planning for the future.

Emergency Firewood

If you find yourself in need of firewood due to being snowed in, facing financial hardship, or experiencing other challenging circumstances, we are here to help.

Medical Library

We are pleased to offer a library of essential medical equipment, ranging from wheelchairs and first aid kits to a selection of high-end electric scooters, which are available for free or at a rental cost.

Community Connections

We are organizing a walking and social group for seniors, using the gym or halls at Jonah or the local school when available.

Get in touch with us…

We invite you to support TLC’s mission with a tax-deductible donation. When we reactivated in April 2023, we had $5,500 in our account. Since then, we’ve invested approximately $7,900 in key initiatives, including a community survey, a page on the community site, 501(c)(3) reactivation fees, and website design and hosting. We would be grateful to make up the $2,400 shortfall with your support. Together, we can achieve more for our community. Thank you!
